Description

Overhead conductors are subject to winds, temperature variations, and intense solar radiation.

A range of bare overhead lines has been designed to withstand these demands as well as the increasing need to carry more current in the same diameter.

The use of aluminum as current conductive material has reached a great development due its mechanical and electrical characteristics, and mainly the economy represented in respect to the use of other metals as conductors. The use of aluminum as current conductive material requires the specification of its properties expressed in the same units employed for other materials, in order to enable its application in comparative terms.

The International Annealed Copper Standard (IACS) provides a convenient base to measuring and comparing the conductivity and resistivity for all conductive materials. (test)
