On Tuesday 13th April, General Manager Oliver Baer and three of his management team left Tri-wire for Düsseldorf to explore the latest innovations and developments at this famous bi-annual wire exhibition venue. Since it moved to this new location in 1982 (formerly in Basel, Switzerland), “Wire Düsseldorf” has seen participation from every conceivable type of industry world-wide, associated and allied to the manufacture and fabrication of product that falls under this heading. This year was once again complemented by a huge number of exhibitors and visitors alike.
The event is naturally a platform for these exhibitors to show off all that is new in their industry - and it is common to observe machinery of every shape, size and description, churning out components. Competition is always very keen and prominent and, whilst buyers are there to continue developing relationships, they are equally looking to see what alternative sources of supply have to offer. Meanwhile, those at the sharp end of manufacturing have the opportunity to discuss the technical aspects and performance of new technology applicable to their industry. There is also the key and fundamental element of Supplier/Customer networking in abundance - with a wealth of information to share and discuss.
We were welcomed by our colleagues representing Nexans Deutschland Industries, who had organised a prominent stand providing hospitality to a steady stream of existing and potential customer alike.
This also provided a base for us to meet our visitors who had indicated they were coming over and a chance to introduce them to key Nexans personnel.
Our time within the exhibition seemed to pass very quickly but all of us came away with valued information on equipment and ideas for product/market development. Fortunately, our choice of ferry travel stood us in good stead for our return journey, as news of the Icelandic volcano eruption was spreading around the complex on Thursday morning and causing great consternation.
Our thanks, once again to the Directors of NDI for their courtesy during our brief stay.
