Branding
Brands have been harmonised to deliver a consistent homogeneous offering as follows:
- LANsense - Intelligent Infrastructure Management Solutions
- LANmark - Physical Infrastructure Solutions
- Includes all Copper, Fibre, Wireless, and PoE systems backed by comprehensive service and support package
- LANconnect - a derivative of LANmark specifically linked to the 808 style connectivity in both UTP & FTP formats. The ISCS Brand will be replaced by LANconnect FTP
- essential - component based system for all installers and backed by easy on-line Link Certification.
Products
Having reviewed our connectivity product portfolio, NCS will be rationalising the various ranges to minimise product duplication, whilst at the same time, maintain as many desirable features as is possible.
- '808' style Category 6 connectors (along with associated LANconnect 6 infrastructure cable and patch cord product) are planned to be phased out at the end of January 2007 and replaced by LANmark systems with ‘snap-in’ format connectors. However, NCS is committed to the long term support and maintenance of the existing 808 installed base and will ensure supply of connector products to meet these requirements.
Nexans is willing to support future needs by the provision of last time buy requirements. Information relating these requirements needs to be sent to Martin Rossbach at NCS by 31st of December 2006 at martin.rossbach@nexans.com. Fulfilment of requirements will be subject to negotiation, depending on time scales and volumes required.
- 808 style Category 5e connectors will continue to be supported along with panel and outlet related 808 structural hardware due to the ongoing high demand for these products. These products will not be phased out, but made available for all NCS customers. As well as the standard 5e solution, the Extended Drive Distance Offer from former ITT NS&S is also supported when used in conjunction with the appropriate infrastructure cable solutions.
- Panels. The range of LANmark modular ‘snap-in’ panels is being extended to include a black finish format and LANsense enabled versions.
- Cat5e Cables and Cords are being harmonised to ensure interoperability and avoid the need for dual stocking of comparable types. As an example LANmark-5 and LANconnect-5 cable in both UTP and FTP have been rationalised into single dual brand products suitable for use with either ‘808’ or ‘snap-in’ format connectivity. Likewise cords will be dual branded and interchangeable where applicable. (See earlier announcement)
- Retrofit hood patch cords will remain in the LANconnect FTP product portfolio using a new RJ45 plug and hood. (See earlier announcement)
- Fibre products are now harmonised under the LANmark-OF range.
Documentation and Support tools
In addition to the recently published LANsense and LANconnect brochures, NCS has launched a new integrated web site to enable a single point of access for all requirements. This can be accessed at www.nexans.com/lansystems. The changes announced are already being included in any new documentation or sales tools etc as they are produced.
Please also be aware that the nexans web site is undergoing a major development and the current e-service portal will be integrated into the Nexans web platform as from 16th January 2007.
Nexans has a strong ethos of technology leadership, demonstrated through our achievements with Category 6, GG45 Category 7 connectivity, Plastic Optical Fibre and our market position in Intelligent Management solutions. By removing product duplication and focussing on core technologies at each level we will not only be in a better position to develop next generation products with faster lead times to market, but our channel partners and end customers will reap the logistics benefits by not having to dual stock product.
