Topic
A Selection of FTTH Networks : PON Configuration Passive Network Layout & Associated Cost Modelisation

Speaker
Véronique Stappers, Corporate Marketing Manager Infrastructure Market, Telecom

Abstract
As a nationwide networking architecture, PON addresses various configurations including multi-dwelling residential and single home access. Existing xDSL copper architecture & existing infrastructure layout (that can include both underground & aerial parts and/or different right of ways like sewer) have both to be taken into account. But also the design of the network (flexibility point implementation, splitter location & splitting ratio) from the exchange to the subscriber premises is critical and the challenge is to select deployment scenarii with innovative elements to make it reliable & cost efficient.
The reliability will enable to maintain the OPEX at affordable level reducing trouble shootings & the design will enable to have optimized CAPEX per subscriber.
