Nexans, developer and manufacturer of the GG45™ connector interface, has signed an Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) agreement with Dätwyler to help meet the growing demand for the unique connector system that offers reverse compatibility with RJ45.
Since the GG45™ Cat 7 system was launched in 2002, its popularity has been steadily increasing. In just the last two years, Nexans has seen growth rates in excess of 40 per cent. In addition to its advanced technology and the high system capacity of up to 1 GHz, the key to its growing market acceptance is the system’s reverse compatibility with RJ45. This feature distinguishes GG45™ from all other Cat 7 systems and allows for the possibility of gentle migration of RJ45 on future Cat 7 technologies.
The commercial breakthrough in the field of Cat 7 has been described in independent international studies as the “most popular choice to date” (Source: CRU Analysis, July 2006). This trend has also been noted by Dätwyler, a market leading cable producer including the area of high value Cat 7 cables. At the start of 2007 Dätwyler adopted the GG45™ system as a prime solution in its product portfolio.
The OEM-Agreement signed between Nexans and Dätwyler will initially only apply to Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Luxemburg. In addition to the established OEM partners, Kerpen and TKM, Dätwyler will now also assist Nexans to meet the increased demand on the GG45™ account.
The agreement with Dätwyler extends the GG45™ marketing channel with another important participant. For the consumer this means a higher level of competence, a wider selection of options, further development and more competition.
